Article on Liechtenstein’s public finances in WirtschaftsWoche
The German weekly newspaper “WirtschaftsWoche” regularly answers interesting questions from readers in the form of longer articles. One reader asked: “Are there actually any countries that have managed to pay off their national debt? And are there perhaps countries that are not participating in the debt race?”. To answer this question, WirtschaftsWoche journalist Celine Imensek studied statistics and country reports from the International Monetary Fund. There she came across the information that Liechtenstein’s public budgets have consistently generated a plus since 2014 (the consolidated revenue of the country, municipalities and social security funds has consistently exceeded expenditure). Reason enough to ask the Liechtenstein Institute about Liechtenstein's public finances and the possible reasons for their positive development.
