Workshop in «Empirical Macroeconomics»
The workshop was aimed at researchers who use macroeconomic methods and innovative use of economic data to investigate economic fluctuations and the associated economic policy challenges.
The event was organized by Max Breitenlechner (University of Innsbruck), Martin Geiger (Liechtenstein Institute), Jochen Güntner (Johannes Kepler University Linz), Johann Scharler (University of Innsbruck) and Marios Zachariadis (University of Cyprus).
The workshop program consisted of five main topics, which were covered in presentations and subsequent discussions:
- Firm reaction to news and macroeconomic shocks
- Identification approaches in macroeconomic models
- Firm expectations, price and wage setting
- Expectations and behavior of households
- Monetary policy
In total, 25 researchers from universities, central banks, supervisory authorities and research institutes from all over Europe took part. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and discuss current macroeconomic challenges. The presentations and discussions were of high quality and provided valuable insights into the latest methodological advances, and the workshop offered a number of suggestions for current and future research projects and collaborations.
