The research project deals with the European law and political framework conditions of the Liechtenstein migration politics. As the only state in the European economic area (EEA) Liechtenstein is authorized to restrict the immigration of EEA nationals. On the other hand, Liechtenstein nationals benefit fully from the free movement of persons in the EEA. This special position of Liechtenstein needs to be looked at more closely. It turns out that the Liechtenstein special solution is subject to numerous institutional restrictions which reduce the Liechtenstein government's scope to control an interest based immigration. The results of the project have been incorporated into various lectures and studies.
