Handbook on the Liechtenstein Political System published

16 Dec 2024 - Neue Publikation
The Liechtenstein Institute is pleased to announce the publication of the handbook "The Liechtenstein Political System". This new handbook offers interested readers an up-to-date overview of the central facets, aspects and organs of Liechtenstein's political system in compact articles.

To this end, a total of 22 self-contained articles and a summary concluding chapter present the most important research findings on a whole range of relevant topics, refer to the most important literature and point to relevant internet links. In addition to institutions such as the Princely House, Parliament, government, administration, municipalities, parties, associations, media, church and jurisdiction, the individual contributions deal with referendums, the electoral system, voting behavior, small statehood, political culture and the topic of sovereignty. Other articles deal with Liechtenstein's economic structure, international relations, the education system, civil society, small statehood and equal opportunities.

To improve readability and comparability, all contributions are structured in the same way. They each begin with a short abstract and keywords, followed by an introduction. The following chapters briefly outline the history, the legal basis and the relevant theories. The main chapter then deals with the empirical findings that emerge from the research literature. An international comparison and a conclusion round off the individual contributions.

The handbook is the first volume in the new "Schriftenreihe des Liechtenstein-Instituts", which is published by the renowned Nomos Verlag. The individual articles were mainly written by authors from the Liechtenstein Institute's research team. The team of authors consists of Cyrus Beck, Andreas Brunhart, Kristina Budimir, Christian Frommelt, Linda Märk-Rohrer, Wilfried Marxer, Christoph Maria Merki, Thomas Milic, Philippe Rochat, Emanuel Schädler, Patricia M. Schiess Rütimann, Paul Vogt and Sebastian Wolf.
