In the spring of 2018, the Liechtenstein parliament referred a postulate on media funding to the government and called on the government to review the effectiveness of media funding in terms of media and opinion diversity. A population survey on media use and media funding was also requested. As a result, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Economy and Sports commissioned the Liechtenstein Institute to conduct such a survey.
