Book presentation: Relations between Liechtenstein and Switzerland

30 Oct 2024 - Neue Publikation
On October 28, 2024, the 64th volume in the Liechtenstein Political Papers (LPS) series was presented at the Liechtenstein Institute. It is dedicated to the topic of Liechtenstein-Switzerland relations and contains contributions on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Customs Union Treaty between the two countries.

After a welcoming address by Director Prof. Thomas Meier, Fabian Frommelt and Georges Baur, as editors of the volume, took turns to introduce the contributions and their authors. The third editor, Christian Frommelt, then summarized the most important findings from the work. Finally, words of welcome were read out by Emanuel Schädler, publishing director of the Akademische Gesellschaft.

With this volume – in addition to and long after Niedermann's commendable treatise on the Customs Treaty (LPS 5) – an in-depth analysis of the development and present of the extensive but also complex relationship(s) between Liechtenstein and Switzerland was undertaken for the first time. This laid the foundation for another academic desideratum, namely a look into the future against the backdrop of current geopolitical and European political changes.

The volume contains contributions by Georges Baur, Cyrus Beck, Andreas Brunhart, Christian Frommelt, Fabian Frommelt, Martin Geiger, Cornelius Goop, Thomas Milic, Beat Ospelt, Lukas Ospelt, Rupert Quaderer, Philippe Rochat and Patricia M. Schiess Rütimann.
