Aymo Brunetti appointed new member of the Scientific Council

The Liechtenstein Institute is delighted to have found in Prof. Aymo Brunetti the ideal successor to Prof. Andreas Peichl as representative of the Department of Economics on the Scientific Council.

Aymo Brunetti has been a full professor of economics at the University of Bern since 2012 and, since 2026, has also been president of the University Council of the University of Basel.

In 1999, Aymo Brunetti joined the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, where he soon became a member of the Executive Board of the newly founded State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and headed its Economic Analysis Division. From 2003 to 2012, he was Head of the Economic Policy Directorate at SECO. He has also served as an advisor to the World Bank, the OECD, and the International Finance Corporation. Aymo Brunetti is a proven expert in Swiss and European economic policy and, even after moving to the University of Bern, continued to be active in economic policy consulting, particularly in the area of financial market regulation, where he has headed various federal expert groups in recent years.

The Scientific Council consists of Swiss and international members with a high level of expertise and experience in the Liechtenstein Institutes research areas. It ensures that research is conducted at a high level and is particularly involved in the selection of new research projects and academic staff.
