This book contains the lectures of a series held in January 2008 at the Liechtenstein Institute. The lecture series "Nature and Landscape in the Alpine Rhine Valley - From the History of the Earth to the Present" was intended to contribute to a new regional understanding. After all, people have lived "back to back" in this valley for far too long. However, if the Alpine Rhine were to be placed more in the centre of attention of the valley community, new, more in-depth approaches could be developed. The aim of the lecture series was to address landscape and spatial issues and to show ecological relationships and peculiarities of the Alpine Rhine Valley. The arc stretches from the formation of the Alps to questions of the future, each time focusing on a cross-border view of things.
